One Year Basic Course in Astroshamanism and Experiential Astrology

This course is a five-workshop series, starting with a basic introduction to shamanic healing and experiential astrology, and followed by a complete luminous quest into the mysteries of our multidimensional nature, as represented by the 12 zodiac signs. As we meet each sign, we release its secrets and retrieve a fragmented part of our soul, allowing it to activate our highest potentials and become a powerful ally. The programme includes tuition on journeying, divination, trance dance, spirit guides and medicines, release work, time voyages and the astroshamanic zodiac wheel, with practices from many cultures, the Western, Mediterranean and Gnostic traditions in particular. The programme is also inspired by the principles of A Course in Miracles and will integrate with the native traditions of the countries where it is held.

The course provides a basic comprehensive experiential understanding and in-depth knowledge of shamanism and astrology. Each two-day workshop covers a specific theme, including the connection with the Guide, the 12 zodiac signs, the four astrological seasons, elements and directions. This series is ideally taken as a whole, yet in some cases workshops may also be attended independently.

The course is led by the founder of astroshamanism, Franco Santoro, with the assistance of other skilled practitioners.

No prior involvement in astrology or shamanism is necessary and total beginners are welcome to apply, though it is expected that some participants will have previous knowledge or experience.

The Way of the Spirit Guide: Autumn 2007

During this seminar participants are initiated into basic astroshamanic healing and experiential astrology, with particular reference to the relationship with the Spirit Guide, or Core Multidimensional Identity, and the definition of the Intent. The programme includes a complete experiential introduction to the shamanic voyage, the vertical axis, the connection with guides and the search for one’s core potential. The workshop also includes the initiation into the astroshamanic healing Ritual of the Sacred Cone. This workshop is a pre-requisite for the one-year course and other advanced trainings. It is possible to take part in this workshop also if you are not attending the one-year course or as a way to find out whether the course is the right thing for you.

The Way of the North: Winter 2008: Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces

The North is the realm of winter, the air element and the mental body. It is the way of renewal, cleansing and wisdom, the place where we explore our deepest values and define honourable intentions. During this workshop we interact with the multidimensional features of our environment, moving beyond the perception of separation and finding our authentic role in the web of life. We also investigate the community elements of shamanic work, sharing our gifts and experiencing the healing power of the circle. The programme includes dream-work, circle intention setting, spirit contracts and other practices associated with the signs of Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

The Way of the East: Spring 2008: Aries, Taurus and Gemini

The East is the direction of spring, fire and the spirit body. It is the place of birth, illumination, enterprise and leadership, the area of clarity, courage and sacred passion. Over the week-end we learn to establish a direct and pragmatic connection with spirit guides, retrieving shamanic medicines, activating power tools and bringing tangible healing in our lives and environment. We also explore astroshamanic trance dance, drumming, chanting and sacred idioms, together with other ways of activating the energies of Aries, Taurus and Gemini.

The Way of the South: Summer 2008: Cancer, Leo and Virgo

The South is the place of summer, earth and physical body. It is the direction that connects us with our passion, joy, vitality and radiance. During this workshop we explore the material realm and the human body, meant as healing tools for reaching out our multidimensional nature. The programme includes astroshamanic bodywork and touch, power postures, elements of shapeshifting and shamanic work with the territory, as well as practices related to the signs of Cancer, Leo and Virgo.

The Way of the West: Autumn 2008: Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius

The West is the direction of autumn, water and the emotional body, an area of radical transformation, which confronts us with the multidimensional nature of life and death. Over the week-end we explore soul retrieval, time-space voyages, the realm of ancestors and sacred relationships, employing potent release practices and techniques associated with Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius.

Individual Sessions

Franco Santoro gives particular attention to astroshamanic healing individual sessions and offers various tools in this realm. Consultations vary individually and enfold the following applications: connection with spirit guides, astroshamanic soul retrieval, astroshamanic healing, astroshamanic touch, time-space voyages, divination and also on-going shamanic trainin. The natal chart may be used to identify current time cycles and healing tools. Franco holds regular sessions at Findhorn, where he mainly resides, and also in other parts of the world. Please check the calendar of events for details. Franco also offers individual sessions by phone and other means of communication. These types of sessions have proved very effective and powerful. "Among the many important experiences I went through during the three-year course of astroshamanism held by Franco Santoro in my house in Rome, I would like to speak about three particularly meaningful experiences. The first one is an experience of healing. During the course we explored the twelve astrological sectors and the relative planets. My Neptune is in the sixth house, in the sign of Libra, and, as the sixth house represents daily life and the physical body, Neptune, seagod and lord of the erratic sign of Pisces, in this sector has the disagreeable sensation of being imprisoned. In fact, for me practical duties have always been very heavy. Visiting the sixth sector and connecting myself with the planet which inhabits the house I found myself in the middle of a very light dance : dressed in blue veils, I was moving dancing and skimming over the ground on the tips of my toes, smiling to everyone I met while I was going to the bank or doing the shopping, and inviting those people who seemed to have the desire to dance to join me. In astroshamanism it is possible to have a healing experience such as that which I have just described as if it was real; moreover, the impression we keep of that experience is so strong that we can substitute it for the experience we have had so far of the so- called reality. This means that from that moment on, something has radically and permanently changed in my relationship with daily life, and that each time I go out for a practical duty I am able to put into practice the experience of the sixth sector and ‘dance’ while I am going from the market to the post office. In fact, only floating, dancing and skimming over the earth Neptune can feel at ease in the ordinary world. The second experience is about an extraordinary gift I received during a connection with the planet Uranus. Four precious stones, suitable during channeling sessions, in which I facilitate the contact between a person and his/her Spirit Guide, were indicated to me : ruby, topaz, emerald and diamond. Throughout the years I have realized that, putting these stones on the relative chakras before a true channeling, people go quickly into a more subtle dimension than the one they are used to living in, suitable for contacting the Spirit Guide. Finally, the third experience is a vision. During an individual session with Franco Santoro, I asked where I could find my happiness. With the usual strength of the visions connected to astroshamanic exploration, I saw myself living in a little community of five or six people. Each of us worked for Light, and, in the evening, we shared our experiences. I felt that this was the answer I had been waiting for, even if at first I was surprised because I believe I needed a partner to be happy. But, as to this point, my perception was that I could be happy with a partner only inside the little community I had visualized. So I know better now, in which direction my life should be ." A Journey Around the Sacred Circle

A year-long ongoing cycle aimed at exploring shamanic states of consciousness according to planetary energies. Franco has run these sessions in the Findhorn Community since 1999. THE OPERATIVE TRAINING IN ASTROSHAMANISM

THE FIRST BASIC LEVEL OF INITIATION

The Operative Training in Astroshamanism is a complete ongoing system of teaching devised for training healers and shamanic practitioners in accordance with the initiatory tradition of theSacred Cone Circle. The basic intent of this tradition is to foster the reawakening of our original multidimensional nature and the release of grievances based on the perception of separation. In this context initiation is not about receiving instant powers and radically shifting your life, although this at times may also happen. It is a process that involves implanting a seed which will grow according to your investment of energy and natural disposition. This development stems from the essence of most mystery traditions (mystery from the Greek myein, to keep silent, and tradition from the Latin tradere, handing down, transmit). The principal trait of these mysteries is that they cannot be communicated by one human being to another. Although teachers or shamans may play a significant role in providing the tools and itinerary to access basic information, the actual mysteries are revealed to the initiates by direct experience and connection with shamanic realities. The Operative Training in Astroshamanism consists of three independent stages of initiation and is accompanied by specific literature and manuals. The First Basic Level represents the first stage. This training comprises 144 hours of intensive teaching with a flexible structure that can be tailored to fit individual needs and situations, including the alternative of a home-study course. Previous participation to the Astroshamanic Basic Seminar (or another equivalent workshop), and a cycle of three individual sessions, included an interview with Franco Santoro, are a prerequisite for attendance. Before deciding to join the Training, applicants will thoroughly examine their current life situation, purpose and learning potentials in order to verify whether this step can truly serve them. Entry into the Training also requires that deep intuition or specific individual guidance (received through a shamanic journey, vision or dream) proves that this work is appropriate. The programme of the Training will include significant experiences with shamanic states of consciousness as well as relevant opportunities to ground the work in ordinary reality. Participants will learn a wide range of shamanic techniques and directly explore the astroshamanic cosmology as it is reflected in their inner and outer life. They will receive initiation in specific healing and ceremonial practices in accordance with each Sector of the Sacred Circle, integrating their shamanic experiences with information drawn from astrology and other esoteric sources. The First Basic Level covers the following areas: astroshamanic voyaging and cosmology, Sacred Circle, Intent and Function, Sacred Cone Work (release practices, basic ritual, shamanic extraction), Spirit Guides, Totem Spirits, shamanic forms and detectors, spirit medicines, sacred tools, astrodrama, trance dance, totemic postures, dreamwork, glossolalia, exploration of the 12 Sectors, astroshamanic chants and planetary scales, an outline of astrology and its application to astroshamanism, elements of astroshamanic healing and soul retrieval. A Provisional Guide Book to the First Basic Level of the Operative Training in Astroshamanism constitutes the text of the First Basic Level. Its purpose is to act as an auxiliary, purposefully incomplete and transitional tool of support for the energetic transmissions and experiential teachings that are given during the Training. The basic assumption here is that to make this shamanic tradition manifest through intellectual or literary expression is a most forlorn and preposterous enterprise. The Guide Book is arranged in lessons with practices and exercises. Their function is to ground the major topics of the Training and allow the embodiment of the work. They are not there to test or quiz you. Practices and exercises are a requirement only if First Basic Level Certification is desired (Corporate Trainee). The First Basic Level may also be pursued and completed without receiving certification (Delegate Trainee). In this latter case an alternative curriculum may be arranged aimed at supporting and developing a specific project. Whether the choice is to be a Corporate or Delegate Trainee, the teaching programme will adapt to individual needs and potentials. The curriculum of the Training has a specific structure and there is a certain amount of work to do. At the end of the journey, the energies of each of the 12 Sectors and four Directions of the Sacred Circle will all be explored. The First Level has to do with building a foundation for the spiritual journey and reawakening of our multidimensional nature. According to astroshamanism, the existence of a stable container is essential for the energies beyond ordinary perception not to get lost or misused. The information and tools that are shared in the Training serve this purpose. For the first lessons the work is preparatory. After this initial stage, the Trainee can start the exploration of the 12 Sectors and four Directions. One of the strategic purposes of the journeys in the Sectors is to activate tools of power, develop potentials, release grievances, make agreements with Spirit Guides, planetary forces, Totem Spirits, etc. and recall significant lost memories. The practices and exercises related to the Sectors are devised to accompany you on a quest for treasures and powers that lie dormant within. This process strategically unfolds through recognising, retrieving and expressing each of the 12 basic archetypes (Totem Spirits) through our physical as well as emotional, mental and spiritual body. This work involves learning a multidimensional language and requires patience, constancy and attention mixed with sacred playfulness and adventure.
